following Jesus of Nazareth, together.
It all started with an idea Carlton Deal had during the Covid-19 pandemic.
On a whim on 31 October 2020, Carlton invited friends from around the world to read Scripture with him for thirty consecutive days. The next day, Day by Day was born. Thirty friends met online to read together, share their views, and care for one another.
Today Day by Day continues with new journeys beginning regularly.
What is Day by Day?
The Day by Day Community is a global movement of followers of Jesus who read Scripture together each day, for a specific amount of days, share personal views, and support each other. The journey takes place conveniently on WhatsApp.
The concept is simple - and the impact is profound. New friendships form. Spiritual lives deepen. Connection and meaning grow.
Who is it for?
Catholics, Protestants, Anglicans, Baptists, Pentecostals, Orthodox believers and everyone else are equally welcomed, and quickly feel at home spiritually with each other. Some are following Jesus for the first time.
People who wouldn’t go to church together, and who might question each other’s theology, are engaging in meaningful spiritual dialogue about what it’s like, in their shoes, to walk with Jesus day by day.
What is the Day by Day Community?
The Day by Day Community is growing. Dozens of nationalities are represented, and the group spans the generations, from college students to great-grandparents.
Each Day by Day journey has a different mix of people because everyone is free to opt in for one journey or another.
And, of course, there is always someone new. Maybe next time, it’s you.
How to join the journey
There are five Day by Day journeys each year, of increasing length, in September, October, November, January, and from Easter Monday to Pentecost Monday. The journey takes place on WhatsApp, so friends can join from anywhere.
The community is growing slowly but surely, and to maintain a sustainable pace and a safe space, we are currently welcoming new members on application basis. You can apply to join here.

Meet the founder, Carlton Deal
In addition to founding the Day by Day Community, Carlton Deal is the founder and CEO of Serve the City International, founder and lead pastor of The Well Community in Brussels, and serves European political leaders as a part of the prayer breakfast fellowship. Carlton’s favorite business card to hand out just says “Friend.”
